About This Project

SEPIA (Self-hosted Private AI Assistant) is a fully open-source, privacy-first virtual assistant platform. It provides voice control, chatbot-style interaction, and smart device integration — all running locally on your own server or device. SEPIA supports multiple languages, flexible commands, and integrations with platforms like Home Assistant and OpenHAB.

Project Pitch

Voice assistants don’t need to spy on you to be helpful. SEPIA empowers users to control their smart homes, ask questions, and manage daily tasks with a virtual assistant that respects their privacy. It fits naturally within the Own Your Smart Home mission by replacing Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant with a community-owned alternative. With more funding, SEPIA could expand language support, simplify installation, and improve wake-word performance across devices — bringing private AI to more homes.
